Semi-savoy spinach for spring through fall planting
Days to Maturity: 27
Tundra is an organic, semi-savoy spinach. Semi-savoy spinach is generally considered the best type for growing at home because it has all the benefits of savoy spinach—better taste, longer keep time, and less oxalic acid than smooth types—but its leaves are only lightly crinkled. And Tundra’s elongated, oval, glossy, dark green baby leaves have excellent texture and flavor.
This variety grows slowly, so it can be planted in early spring, early summer, or early fall. The plant has an upright growth habit, reducing mud splash, good bolting tolerance, and a strong resistance to downy mildew races 1, 13, 15, 16.
Plants can also be started indoors and planted outdoors after the risk of frost has passed. If you plan to start your seeds indoors, be sure to check out our Bio Dome Seed Starter Kit. With the Bio Dome, you can control the temperature, light, and soil mix to ensure your seeds become strong for transplant.
